Property, setting and location:
The setting of this lovely old house could hardly be more beautiful. Many of its rooms face south and have superb views of peaceful countryside with the mountains and fells of Northern Lakeland beyond.
Keswick, Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwent Water lie a short drive to the south through the northern fells and the coast of the Solway Firth just to the north.
The house dates from around 1360 with later additions, the majority of which are Victorian. In summer the sun streams in through the large windows and guests can roam in the idyllic grounds with its ponds and arbours while, during the cooler months, great log fires burn in the study and dining room.
This is also a home and the whole house has the atmosphere of a tranquil, elegant country way of living almost forgotten, a place where hospitality is warm and friendship infectious.
