Property, setting and location:
On the northern margins of the Salisbury Plain and not far to the south of the Cotswold Hills, Wilcot Lodge is a spacious family house in a peaceful hamlet near Pewsey.

Set in a designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', the house is situated 6 miles south of Marlborough, 22 miles from the cathedral city of Salisbury and within easy reach of the Avebury Stone Circle, Silbury Hill, West Kennet Long Barrow and Stonehenge. The Kennet and Avon Canal is close by and there is wonderful walking country on the chalk downs, which form the dramatic North Escarpment of the Vale of Pewsey, just two miles from Wilcot Lodge.

Here, you are ideally located for the following sites of historical, religious and mystical interest:

Avebury: prehistoric stone circle, encompassing a village, nearby Silbury Hill and the Kennet Long Barrow
Bath: beautiful Georgian spa town with Roman baths and excellent shops
Marlborough: county market town on the edge of the Savernake Forest
Hungerford: many antique shops
Lacock: historic village with Abbey, scene of historical dramas, most recently "Pride & Prejudice".
Salisbury (and Old Sarum): historic cathedral and market city
Stonehenge: World-famous heritage site of prehistoric stone circle
Wilton House: ancestral home of the Earls of Pembroke

Guest rooms, facilities and the garden:
There are 2 principal guest rooms and 2 additional rooms are available for larger parties:

1. Twin single beds with an en-suite bathroom - bath, shower, wash basin and toilet.
2. Three single beds with exclusive, private use of large bathroom with all facilities.

Additional rooms for use by family or friends of those reserving the two principal rooms:
3. Double sharing facilities of room 2.
4. Single sharing facilities of room 2.

Tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryer in all rooms. Cot available on request.

Guests have the use of a sitting room downstairs with television.
The house is centrally heated throughout.

There is a large, well kept garden and terrace with garden furniture for your relaxation and enjoyment in summer.
 
 




Meals and other facilities:
Breakfast, included in the tariff, is served in the dining room (illustrated). Every effort is made to provide your ideal breakfast, whether it be 'full English' or 'Continental'.
Local produce is used whenever possible. Vegetarian and other dietary needs can be catered for by prior arrangement..

For other meals, there is a wide choice of local restaurants and pubs, which serve good food according to taste and preferrence - your hosts will happily advise.

Other details and house rules:
Children of all ages and house trained pets are welcomed.
No smoking permitted in the bedrooms.
Secure off road car parking.

Wilcot Lodge is a fine central point from which to explore Southern England by car.
However, if you are travelling by train, Prue and Mike, your hosts, will do all they can to assist by arranging transfers from and back to Pewsey Station, and, whenever possible, give lifts to places of local interest.
